Help A Mother & Newborn Initiative (HMNI)

Organizational Profile

Help A Mother & Newborn Initiative (HMNI) is a Liberian nonprofit organization founded in 2021 to improve maternal, newborn, adolescent, and community health. The organization works to reduce maternal and newborn mortality while empowering women, adolescents, and families through health education, community engagement, advocacy, mentorship, and access to essential health information and support.

HMNI implements programs that support pregnant adolescents and young mothers, promote sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), provide maternal health education, and strengthen youth leadership and community participation. Its key initiatives include the EmpowerHer Journey program, PEER-to-PEER Clubs, adolescent health and community outreach activities, and the SRHR Coach Masterclass.

HMNI also collaborates with partners and stakeholders to advance maternal health, menstrual health, adolescent well-being, and gender-responsive healthcare. We envision a society where every woman, adolescent and newborn has access to quality healthcare, education, and the support needed to live a healthy and fulfilling life. Its guiding belief is that pregnancy should not be a death sentence and that adolescent motherhood should not prevent young women from pursuing their education, personal development, and future aspirations.
